Starting School in September 2026
If you have received an offer of a place in Reception at St John's for September 2026, then we are thrilled that you are going to be joiing our school family. Please complete the Google Form below to share you child's nursery information and allow us to set you up on Tapestry.
Induction visit to school:
We would like to invite you and your child to an induction session at school on Monday 8th June, your time has been sent you individually. During this visit, you will have the opportunity to meet some of the other parents and children who will be joining us in September and have a short 'stay and play’ session in the EYFS classroom with the Reception teachers.
Parents’ Information Evening and Induction Packs:
We will be holding a new parents’ information evening on Tuesday 23rd June at 5pm in the school hall. This will be an opportunity to meet the EYFS teachers and hear a little more about life in Reception at St John’s. At this meeting, you will also receive an induction pack which includes lots of information about our school, what to expect in September and your child’s class information. This comprehensive guide to life at St John’s should answer many of the questions you have about your child starting school. This pack will also include details of your child’s Transfer Day session and September induction period.
Transfer Day:
We would like to invite your child to a second induction visit on Thursday 2nd July. This will be for your child only and will take place in our EYFS classroom. It will last for half the school day. During the session, your child will have the opportunity to meet with some other children who will be in their class, as well as meeting their class teacher and teaching assistant. The children will listen to a story, then complete a little activity before having the opportunity to explore the classroom and the EYFS outside area. We will confirm the time of your child’s visit at the parents’ information evening.
September Induction:
The first three days of the school term will be part-time for Reception. This is to allow the children to transition into school in smaller groups. They will attend for half a day (morning or afternoon) on Thursday 3rd September. They will then attend for a full day on either Friday 4th September or Monday 7th September. The children will then all attend full time from Tuesday 8th September. You will be given details of your child’s induction sessions at the Parents’ Information Evening.
We hope that these opportunities will help you and your child become familiar with our school and the staff that will be looking after them in September, and create a smooth transition into school. We look forward to meeting you soon.
