Shine, Celebrate and Grow!

Inspections

RE Inspection

In July 2019 we were inspected and judged to be 'Outstanding'. The inspectors found that:

'Behaviour across the school is exemplary'

'The excellent relations engendered by teachers create a happy and purposeful environment in which students enjoy their learning and are
confident, keen learners who want to find out more. This was evident in lessons observed during the inspection and in discussions with pupils.'

'The school’s vision ‘For every child to shine, celebrate and grow’ places a strong focus on helping every child to shine at something, celebrate their uniqueness and continue to grow and progress further in God’s light.'

Ofsted

We had our last inspection in March 2018.  St John’s Catholic Primary School was been judged as ‘Good’.  We are all very proud of our school, the staff and the pupils who are rightly recognised in the report.

The inspector found that:

‘Across key stage 1, pupils read fluently and with obvious enjoyment. They use a range of strategies, including their knowledge of phonics, to ensure that they read accurately and with clear understanding.’

‘Warm and effective relationships between staff and pupils help to promote high standards of behaviour and enjoyment in learning. Pupils talk enthusiastically about the exciting topics they study and the interesting range of places they visit.’

‘Parents and carers are extremely positive about the school’s work. They praise your approachability and that of your staff.  In their words, they say they are proud that their children attend this ‘amazing’ school where their children are valued as individuals.’

‘During my visit, we observed Year 3 and 4 pupils writing with imaginative vocabulary to good effect as they created atmosphere in their ‘suspense’ stories. We also looked at a range of pupils’ books and agreed that pupils are extending their skills effectively, making strong progress from the start of the year.’

‘Pupils confirm that they feel secure in school because staff are very supportive, saying that there is always ‘someone to help you’ and ‘you never feel alone’.’
